Soybean Meal

Soybean meal is the by-product of soybean oil extraction and is most important protein source used to feed animals and livestock. Available worldwide with the main growers being China, Argentina, USA, and Brazil. Two main categories of soybean meal exist and are classified by its crude protein content. There is the “high-protein” soybean meal which contains 47-49% protein, 3% crude fiber and is extracted from dehulled seeds. The other category is the “conventional” soybean meal with 43-44% protein and contains the hulls. Used mainly for animal feed but can also be used to produce soybean flour and other products for human consumption.
