Alumina

Aluminum Oxide (Alumina) is a chemical compound of aluminum and oxygen. With a high melting point and noteworthy hardness, it has a great variety of applications such as an abrasive, abrasion protection, flame retardant, polisher, plastic fillers and the production of glass. But its main use is as a consumable in the production of aluminum, usually as smelter grade aluminum (SGA), accounting for over 90% of alumina produced worldwide.
